Hiking is an endurance activity that works the legs, especially on uphills.
Wear shoes suited for the terrain and adjust your pack so the load rests on your hips.
Walk at a pace that allows you to talk. On uphills, shorten your stride; on downhills, keep your knees slightly bent.
Walking poles relieve the knees on downhills. Bring water according to the duration.
